The mission of the Centre for Evaluation is to improve the design and conduct of public health evaluations through the development, application and dissemination of rigorous methods, and facilitate the use of robust evidence to inform policy and practice decisions.
The Centre aims to:
Support, co-ordinate and promote high-quality evaluation studies using randomised and non-randomised, mixed and multidisciplinary methods.
Develop and disseminate innovations in methodology and research to improve the design and conduct of evaluations of complex interventions, in real systems, and where context matters.
Improve the quality and use of robust evidence to inform policy and practice decisions.
Be visible nationally and internationally as a resource for evaluation and methods expertise
The Centre achieves its aims through varied activities that support and harness the evaluation expertise of researchers at LSHTM, maximising their contributions to and collaborations on the development of evaluation methods and conduct of evaluation studies.
Thus, the Centre for Evaluation plays an important role in promoting the internal cohesion of LSHTM’s evaluation activities, enhancing the external visibility of LSHTM’s evaluation portfolio, and fostering methodological development.
